![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Do I need swimming and snorkeling experience ? Late summer will be around 80 and the rest of the year somewhere in between! During the winter months, it may dip down to 74 degrees. The temperature varies seasonally, but year-round our water temps are relatively warm. We also recommend this trip as a private trip for even more seclusion to soak up all the incredible Manta viewing!Īll your snorkeling equipment, floatation devices, light snacks, soft drinks and water, and the incredible boat ride and activity!!! Wetsuits are available for a $5 rental! ![]() This trip is perfect for individuals or groups that don’t mind staying out a little late. However we are one of the few boats that offers a second trip, which means a lot less people and more mantas to ourselves! Often times we have the whole site to ourselves. Being one of the most popular activities in kona the Manta ray site does tend to get busy. This Manta trip offers a special opportunity to go and see Manta rays with a lot less of the crowd. Late Night Manta Snorkel from 8:00-10:30pm We watch the sunset while briefing you about these incredible animals, and get in the water when the sun is down. Our cruise up to the site takes between 20-30 minutes depending on conditions. This Manta trip is great for if you have both divers and snorkelers in your party, if you are bringing younger children, or if you are just hoping to catch the beautiful Hawaiian sunset over the ocean from a boat. Night Manta Snorkel or Dive from 5:30-7:45pm The Mantas, who feed on plankton, cruise between the divers and snorkelers doing continuous flips and scooping up mouthfuls of plankton at their nightly buffet. The plankton can now be concentrated in one area because it is attracted to our lights. All the divers gather together and sit on the bottom. The dive boats park around the perimeter of a sandy area which is about thirty feet deep. The dive/snorkel is conducted in a calm, protected bay in shallow water. Rated also as one of the top ten dives in the world, it is often described as surreal. It is the most famous dive in the Hawaiian Islands. No matter what the boat ride and crew were great and we're excited to go out again.Diving and Snorkeling with the Manta Rays of Kona could possibly be the highlight of your vacation. So book the tour, but if you have kids be sure to tell them to stay with you, even better try to get in front of them when everyone starts pushing for the ladder to get in the water and prepare everyone for the possibility of rough waters, poor visibility and a single sighting. Simon did offer the tour another trip out since it wasn't the greatest show. We did see a beautiful ray but visability wasn't great. They are 12 and 14, so safe without me by their side, but I wouldv'e liked for one of us to be by them as my younger son ended up going in shortly after getting in the water because he was scared. We are a family of 5 and got seprated in the bustle which meant our two younger boys got in the water before mys husband and I, and ended up on a board by themselves. The crew finally saw one and immediately started getting everyone in the water. We understand it is never a guarantee as the rays are wild amd appreciated their patience and enthusiasm regardless. We were bummed when we arrived at the spot to snorkel and heard it had been a slow day, but Simon shared the history of the location and a little about some of the long time manta residents. The ride itself was an adventure in its own right. It is a must-do when you visit the Big Island! Simon and crew are hilarious and had us lauging from the second we boarded the boat. ![]()
