![]() ![]() Anyway it's been like two years and everyone keeps swearing by this place and I'm like no no no well finally I decided to give it another go and I must say even with the slow service (or at least they warned me it would be slow service due to short staff) which is everywhere right now, it was EXCELLENCE in every way. Don't get me wrong I am totally flexible and low-key about understanding new businesses customer service issues and all of the above but it was a really really bad experience food undercooked and it was the owners cooking it, food was forgotten you name it it went wrong. I tried this place when it first opened And boy was that such a bad experience owner completely comped our meal and I swore to never go back. Don't be deterred they're clean, friendly, and have plenty of outdoor and indoor seating for our thankfully now rainy days. It's the next best place to the seriously great sushi restaurant in downtown auburn, but it's really good. I love the fact that they don't gouge your wallet and I can get two containers of udon one seafood and one veg and an appetizer for 25 bucks for dinner. I cannot comment on the grilled meat items since we do not eat meat, but the grilled salmon hasn't disappointed my husband yet, and there's lots of cooked items, including all cooked rolls, that are sure to please everyone. I do love it or UDON which is fresh, hot, well packed so it doesn't dump all over the car even using the seatbelt trick by the time you get home. I also wish they'd try to get fresh picketed ginger and get a little more expressive on the sauces. ![]() It's your standard run of the mill pre prepared seaweed salad. I love the appetizers, yet for some reason no restaurant can come up with real seaweed salad. I wish they did there's nothing worse than ruining a roll buy shoving a fork into it. The only thing I will say is they don't automatically give you chop sticks with your order so request them for take out. I never recommend Japanese on Mondays or Wednesday but I would not hesitate the turn over is heavy enough that I've never had a problem with freshness or flavor, creativity or special quests. Always friendly take out service with a smile. Stuffed jalapeños are amazing though and super filling. Spicy edamame can taste a little burnt sometimes but it is spicy which I appreciate. Not a complaint but my bf prefers Hanami sushi tempura and chicken teriyaki instead. So I'd pass on those in the future) but the point is I didn't even point out the hair cuz we'd of waited so long already I was over it. Fishy for my taste, I lived on the Santa Cruz coast for years so I know they're not really supposed to smell or taste overly fishy. She apologized and was super sweet and got us a free appetizer (I got the mussels. We waited so long seated though because no one told our server we were there. 1.Inconsistency with the pepperfin 2.I found a hair in my spicy ramen once (long and black) so I knew it wasn't mine. ![]() ![]() I don't really have complaints but a couple things. All the things I've ordered pepperfin, spicy edamame, spicy ramen (chicken and veggie), stuffed jalapeños, baked mussels, cheesy Korean chicken, teriyaki chicken, a couple rolls, mixed tempura. Which isn't a problem if you eat there an can ask for some but when I order it togo an even ask for extra an get home and there's no ponzu it's annoying. Sometimes you get a lot an sometimes you get barley any, like drops. Even though ordering is never consistent with the ponzu sauce. I come here honestly strictly for the Pepperfin. Let me say I still order here just only certain things. Not sure if I should give this more stars or not. ![]()
